Who We Are

Some board positions and appointments have various qualifications and require additional paperwork. Board positions include:

  • Downtown Development Authority - The City of Suwanee is committed to maintaining the unique charm of Old Town and to revitalizing its economic potential through its Downtown Development Authority (DDA). 
  • The Planning Commission is a five-member board appointed by the City Council. Duties include making recommendations on rezoning and special use permit requests, reviewing amendments to the zoning ordinance, participating in long-range planning efforts, and deciding on requested deviations to the city's development regulations and architectural standards.

  • The City Council-appointed Public Arts Commission was established to work with and encourage developers to include public art or support public art as a component of new projects, as well as create programs that bring and promote public art in Suwanee.
  • The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a five-member board appointed by City Council. Its responsibilities include reviewing and issuing rulings on variances from the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance and hearing appeals on administrative decisions related to the zoning ordinance and city codes.

What We Do

Board openings for these positions are filled on an as-needed basis. If you would like to be considered for an appointed position, we can let you know when applications are being taken for various board positions. Some boards require applicants to live or work within the city limits. Each boards requirements may vary slightly. By letting us know if your interest to serve, we will be able to notify you of openings to apply.
